![]() As such, if you have distance enough to avoid the spins, don't get too comfortable and still be ready to deflect as the lunge comes quick and fast.Īfter a certain amount of time, Lu Bu will whistle for his horse and jump back on, meaning you’ll need to repeat the previous strategies. Something to remember, the spin overhead Critical Blow attack can sometimes end in a lunge with his staff that, should it connect, will deal major damage and knock you over. One of these is a very quick diagonal upward slash with his staff, and the other is a couple of spins with the staff overhead. The next two Critical Blow attacks seem to be triggered most often immediately after performing a successful deflection of a previous Critical Blow attack. Your best bet is to immediately dodge backwards a few times, as his run towards you is slower than you’d expect, and therefore gives you a wider window to get the deflect off successfully. ![]() This one can be tricky, particularly if you are up close when he goes to perform it. This leap homes in on you, so it will make contact regardless of distance, so either dodge or deflect, whichever you are most comfortable with.Īnother is a charge forward with his spear digging into the ground, leaving a fiery streak in its wake, and as he reaches you he will attempt to flick the spear out of the ground and subsequently launch you into the air. The most common of which is a smashing of his staff into the ground, creating a small fiery AOE zone, before springing high into the air and slamming back down with his staff. There are a number of Critical Blow attacks Lu Bu will perform whilst on foot. The approach to deflection is no different regardless, and you can get lucky with a well-timed dodge to completely avoid the barrage. These can be regular or flaming arrows dependent on which stage he is in.Īs you progress further into the fight (around 50% health or knocking him from his horse a couple of times) he will do two successive shots with the bow, that can either be two of the same attack, or one and then the other. Any attacks he performs with his bow are the same either a wide horizontal spread of arrows, or arrows that arch out and then home in on you. Lu Bu becomes much more aggressive when he is off his horse, though some of his moves remain the same. If you get in its path, you’ll take a minor amount of damage and your Spirit Gauge will be lowered. The horse isn’t out of the fight though, as it will continually run around in circles in the arena, just around the outline of the circular pattern on the ground. The horse will linger in the air briefly before coming down, so don’t spam deflect as soon as it leaps, but if you keep your lock-on trained on him throughout you should be able to predict the deflection timing.Īfter lowering his Spirit Gauge, you’ll knock him off the horse, and an on-foot battle will begin. ![]() This attack, for obvious reasons, is even more telegraphed. The second horseback Critical Blow attack is a humongous leap into the air, coming down with a slam. Depending on your proximity to him, that will dictate how quickly you need to hit deflect, just be sure to do it just as he is reaches you. The red glow will indicate this, as Lu Bu brings his horse to a stop, directly facing you before charging. The first is a straight-forward charge in a straight line towards you. There are two Critical Blow attacks Lu Bu can perform whilst on horseback. If you stay close to him after he performs this move, he will perform a follow-up swipe with the spear (down to up) as he and the horse spins back around to face you. He can also perform a swipe with his spear as he rides past you. He can fire his bow in either a 180-degree horizontal spread, or fire a set of homing arrows that circle out then towards you. Whilst he is on his horse, he has a number of attacks. Lu Bu begins the battle on his horse, and will take very little damage from any/all sources until you completely lower his Spirit Gauge, knocking him off. Being overly aggressive in this fight will almost certainly spell your doom. Lu Bu, more than anything is a test of restraint and patience.
